60 Days and Nights

Sixty Days and Nights is a historical wargame about the Việt Minh defense of Hanoi during the opening of the First Indochina War, from December 1946 into February 1947.

The player takes the role of Vương Thừa Vũ, commanding the shrinking Việt Minh pocket in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. French forces press inward along four historical axes, probing for weaknesses before committing to assaults. The defense depends less on destroying French units than on managing pressure, cohesion, movement through the city, and the timing of withdrawal. As the battle continues, French aggression and firepower increase while the Vietnamese position contracts.

Victory is measured in Legend. Delaying the French matters, but so does preserving enough of the force to escape and fight again. The player must decide where to stand, where to give ground, when to sacrifice a rear guard, how to use the city’s messengers and hidden routes, and ultimately when the defense has accomplished enough to withdraw.
