El Quinto Sol: A Game of Balance, Creation and Eclipse is a competitive card game for 2–4 players played with a 56-card French-suited deck inspired by Mesoamerican mythology and cosmology. Each of the four suits represents a cosmic direction, and players seek to assemble sacred card patterns known as Suns. Players maintain a five-card hand, drawing from the deck or discard pile and forming combinations to earn Sun Points. A Sacred Path: three consecutive cards of the same suit, scores 1 point; a House of a God: Jack, Queen, and King of the same suit, scores 2; and the Four Directions: the same rank in all four suits, scores 3. The two Jokers act as Eclipses, wild cards that may complete most combinations but reduce that Sun's value by 1 point. The first player to reach 5 Sun Points wins. A Sacred Count, or Fifth Sun: five numbered cards in sequence from the same suit, scores 5 points and wins the game immediately. Jokers cannot be used to create the Fifth Sun, and an Ace may count only as 1. The same deck can also be used as a standard deck of playing cards.
