Il canto delle Völur is a cooperative interpretation and deduction game for 2–5 players, inspired by Norse mythology and the ancient practice of Seiðr.
Players take on the roles of the Völur, seeresses able to interpret signs and visions. In each omen, one player acts as the Guide, using a set of rune dice to convey clues that will lead the other players toward the correct word.
Every die can carry meaning on multiple levels: through its color, the shape of the rune it displays, or the meaning traditionally associated with that rune. But the dice do not speak only on their own. Their position and arrangement in relation to one another can also be part of the message, creating connections, contrasts, groups, sequences, or other visual relationships.
The other Völur must observe the vision as a whole, discuss the different ways in which its signs could be interpreted, and combine their insights to uncover the word the Guide is trying to communicate.
