Menhir is being consumed by The Darkness. You and your fellow shamans must gather the spirits of the forest, harness their powers, and bring light back to the ancient Menhir. Build your fellowship of spirits, master the mysterious Runes, and face the Darkness before it consumes everything.
Menhir is a competitive engine-building game with a strong focus on player interaction. Over the course of five Days, you assemble and develop a portfolio of Spirit cards, combining their abilities to create increasingly powerful engines. Each round, players compete for a limited selection of Rune tokens, using them to activate their Spirits and trigger chains of effects. Spirits can be upgraded by adding new cards beneath them, allowing you to shape your engine and specialize as the game progresses.
But you are not building your engine in isolation. The same Runes are available to everyone, and players must constantly react to what their opponents take, where they move, and which opportunities they leave behind. Players compete for Milestones and strategic positions on the board, build the Road, and race to confront the Darkness. Defeating a Darkness card not only rewards you with resources, but also gives you a powerful new card that can become part of your Spirit portfolio. The board therefore becomes a shared tactical space where every player's actions can create opportunities — or deny them to others.
At the heart of the game lies the Menhir itself. Players seek to place their discs into its three columns, gaining immediate benefits while also competing for control of its zones and valuable victory points at the end of the game. Darkness tokens offer another tempting choice: they can be used to bend Runes to your will or unlock additional powers from your Spirits, but once a Spirit embraces the Dark magic, it will demand that power every time it is activated. After five Days, players score their Menhir presence, defeated Darkness, Milestones, Roads, and upgraded Spirits. The player who has built the most powerful combination of Spirits, resources, positioning, and influence over the Menhir wins.
