Murder, She Crows

A murder in this case is a set of 3 cards or more of the same value OR a run of 3 or more cards of consecutive values (1,2,3…).

Players may gradually build a set AND a run at the same time. These will be two separate piles in front of the player, the left pile will be the RUN, the right pile will be the SET.

Each turn the player begins by revealing 2 cards. They keep one, if possible, and discard the other, or discard both if they cannot be used to continue a RUN or SET. The player may continue to reveal one card at a time then stop at any point. If they stop before busting, that is they have drawn only cards that fit in their current RUN and/or SET, they will add any cards revealed to their RUN and/or SET piles. Cards must be distingushed to be either in the RUN or the SET, they may not be in both at the same time.

If the player busts, that is they revealed a card that does not match their set or a card that cannot be played on either end of their run, their turn ends immediately. They take the first card revealed if it can be used. The players in reverse turn order (counter-clockwise/to the right of the active player) may take a card from those available, but only if they can use it. Discard any additional cards after all players have claimed a card except the active player.

Turns are played to the left. Shuffle the discards when a player chooses to reveal cards and no cards are available in the deck.

A player may score or discard a run or a set at anytime during their turn. The player cannot prolong their turn after they would have busted by scoring or discarding a run or set.

Scoring: add up the total value of the cards' prestige, round up to the nearest number divisible by 5, then earn 1 point on their score track:

Players will note there are coins on their score tracks. If the player has landed on or passed a coin this turn they may add a card from the discard pile to their set or run.

(in the above example, the player would be able to use the coin to add a discarded card to their set or run if they chose to).
