Poi-Poi is a party game about prejudice. Eight monster cards are laid face up on the table alongside a row of question cards. One player takes the role of the Leader and secretly draws a card that tells them which of the eight monsters is the answer.
The Leader then describes that monster using a single subjective impression - never its name, colour or shape. Something along the lines of "the one who asks for a little extra when splitting the bill." The other players confer, choose one question from the row, and ask it together; the Leader answers in character as the hidden monster. On a count of three, everyone points at the monster they believe is the answer.
Each player who points correctly scores 1 point, and the Leader scores 1 point for every player who guessed correctly. However, if every player guesses correctly the Leader scores nothing at all, and if no one guesses correctly the Leader loses a point. Explaining too clearly and hiding too much are punished equally, so the Leader is hunting for a hint that lands with part of the table but not all of it.
Play passes until everyone has been the Leader once, and the player with the most points wins. The game contains 31 monsters and 31 questions.
