Roach is a light real‑time card game for 2‑6 players. All cards are shuffled and dealt evenly to players, who keep their hand hidden. Starting from the first player, players take turns calling out numbers sequentially from 1 to 10 in a repeating cycle. After announcing a number, each player flips the top card from their hand face‑up.
Two conditions trigger a bidding war: either a revealed non‑roach card matches the spoken number, or any roach‑themed card is revealed. The first player to slap avoids penalty. Late or non‑slapping players gain roach tokens. The last slapper gets extra tokens and must take all bid cards back into their hand.
The game ends immediately when a player empties their hand and wins a subsequent bid. Victory goes to the player holding the fewest roach tokens.
A wide array of special roach cards brings wild unexpected effects: token doubling, instant game‑ending conditions, token redistribution and ongoing penalties. Tool cards allow players to remove, clear or pass roach tokens to opponents. Global rule cards can reverse counting order, invert turn sequence or force open‑hand play; these effects remain active until the same card is drawn again.
