In Your Call Is Extremely Important, players work on the customer care hotline at CBA Utilities, a badly run local business. Each customer who phones in is a Caller Card with a score, which can be positive or negative. The aim is to end each Working Day with the highest total score by keeping the good Callers for yourself, and passing the bad ones on to your colleagues.
At the start of the Working Day each player is dealt six Action Cards, and three Callers per player are placed in a pile and shuffled. The top three cards are turned face-up to form The Queue. On your turn, you must take one Caller from The Queue and place it in front of you. You must also play between one and three Action Cards to improve your own Callers, or sabotage others’.
Some Action Cards can be played on any Caller, such as Transfer, which moves a Caller and its attached cards to another player. Others can only be played on your own Callers, such as Insult Caller’s Mother, which makes a Caller’s score worse. Callers that have been hung up are locked in place and can no longer be affected. Red "HR" Cards can be played at any time to cancel the most recently played Action Card.
If there are no Callers remaining in The Queue, three more are taken from the pile and a new Queue begins. When the pile is also depleted the Working Day ends. Each player adds up the scores of their Callers. The player with the highest total is named Star Employee. The first player to be named Star Employee twice wins the game. If no one has done this yet, a new Working Day begins with all scores reset to zero.
